MUN

The Model United Nations (MUN) is one of the after school clubs that is offered at our school.

The after school club prepares students to participate in MUN conferences where they are provided with an opportunity to act as world leaders, attempting to solve some of the World’s biggest issues in 48 hours or less.

MUN offers students a great opportunity to use their imagination and creativity, while learning from each other. Students also have the opportunity to develop valuable skills such as public speaking and resolution writing.

During the MUN conferences, students learn more about the world. This is even more important now in the era of globalisation. They have to opportunity to develop new perspectives as they represent different countries and present solutions to global problems.

ISAlmere MUN conference

ALMUN ’24, taking place on the 28th of June 2024, will be the first ever Model United Nations Conference held at the International School Almere. During our one day conference, students will get a chance to represent nations in various United Nations Committees; debating, lobbying and using diplomacy on serious topics. With the theme of ‘Freedom from Fear’ and a special focus on the 16th UN Sustainable Development Goal of ‘Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions’, we hope to promote just and inclusive societies, shaping the leaders of tomorrow.

Dress code: Formal attire, male delegates are expected to wear a tie.

Registration fee: €20 per participant

Registration is possible until 24 May 2024

  1. GA4: Promoting an end to the DMZ in Korea
  2. GA1: Conventional weapons and armed conflict prevention
  3. League of Nations: British mandate of Palenstine
  4. UNHRC: Eliminating forced child marriage, particularly in the sub-Saharan region
  5. ECOSOC: Affirmative Action in tackling marginalization
  6. SC: Red sea crisis
