Special Needs & Learning Support
For children with special needs, or those requiring additional learning and/or social emotional support, reports from involved external organisations and relevant testing details need to be supplied before admission. Details of the child’s difficulties/requirements need to be clarified and discussed with the Program Coordinator and Head of Care/ School psychologist before admission. Internal assessment may also be required before admission to the school.
Applications will only be taken into account after receiving all the relevant information.
A completed file consists of the following (to be uploaded by parents/guardians):
- Completed admission documentation on Open Apply
- Reports regarding additional needs from externally involved organisations (medical and/ or mental health related)
The current (primary) school of the student will provide us with the following information:
- Administrative information
- School level advise based on academic results/reports
- Information on social emotional development (concentration, motivation, independence, working attitude, etc.)
- Supportive needs and care strategies, and if in place the Action Plan/ Individual Educational Plan
- The name of involved external organisation/ professionals
- Absences overview
- Perspective parents
Once the application file has been completed, the school will review the file within 6 weeks. This time frame can be extended up to 10 weeks, if further research is needed. If, after a period of no less than six (up to ten) weeks in school, we feel we cannot meet the academic, social/emotional or physical needs of your child, we reserve the right to transfer to an establishment that we, the school, believe can better accommodate these needs, or ask that you do so. This may be within the Dutch education system.
Admission to the school will be confirmed only after it has been established by the Admission Team that the programme is appropriate for the child’s needs and a place is available. Final confirmation of placement will be confirmed within 6-10 weeks of the completed admission documentation and the registration fee.
